Accessible Facebook

Overview

Developed as a part of Project Possibility – SS12, this project was aimed at making Facebook a simpler and enjoyable experience for the visually impaired. It is developed using

  • Firefox Extensions

    • Firevox – A talking browser extension for the Firefox web browser
    • Greasemonkey – A Firefox addon that allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript.
    • DOM Inspector – A developer tool used to inspect, browse, and edit the Document Object Model of web pages
  • AxsJax

    (Access-Enabling AJAX) is an open source JavaScript library for enhancing the accessibility of Web 2.0 applications

Concept Provided by

Many web sites, including social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, are mostly inaccessible for blind people using screen readers due to their use of AJAX. Use AxsJax to make them accessible.
